WORLD JOURNALISM EDUCATION CONGRESS
June 25-28, 2007, Singapore
Call for Papers
Deadline: January 7, 2007

The World Journalism Education Congress (WJEC) will be held in Singapore from June 25-28, 2007, with the support of 23 journalism education organizations worldwide.* The Congress will be the first international conference specifically designed for journalism educators and journalism education associations. It will provide a forum for all involved in journalism education to discuss common issues and interests and a foundation for supporting the continuing development of journalism and journalism education worldwide. The Congress will be run in conjunction with the the Asian Media Information and Communication Centre's 16th annual conference. (AMIC , www.amic.org.sg

The World Congress is seeking academic papers relating to any aspect of journalism or journalism education for presentation at the conference. Papers focusing on international or cross-cultural topics are especially encouraged. For more details, click on: http://www.amic-web.org/wjec/

· Papers will be presented either as presentations or in scholar-to-scholar (poster) sessions.
· Authors of accepted papers retain copyright of their papers and are free to submit them for publication after presentation at the Congress.
· Authors must attend the Congress to present their papers if they are accepted.
· Papers that have been already presented or published/in press elsewhere cannot be submitted to WJEC.
· Papers should be 6,000 words maximum (12-point font), excluding notes, references and figures or illustrations.
· Papers must include two title pages. Attach the first and second cover pages on the top of each paper (first cover page above second cover page). On the first cover page, include the paper title, author(s) name(s), affiliation(s), mailing address(es), phone number(s), fax number(s), and email address(es) and a 75-word abstract. Note that correspondence will be sent to the paper's first author. On the second cover page, include only the paper's title and the 75-word abstract. The title should appear both title pages as well as on the first page of the text and as a running head on each page of the paper.
· Papers that do not meet the above requirements will not be reviewed.

Review Process

· All submissions will be blind-reviewed by a panel of judges. Paper selections will be based on these blind reviews.
· If you do not hear about your paper by March 15, 2007, please immediately contact the research competition chair.
· Several editors of journals published by World Journalism Education Congress sponsors have indicated an interest in reviewing papers from this conference for publication.

Siempre he querido escuchar en la radio, esa canción que inventamos borrachos, a la salida del antro del diablo, cuando abrazabas a Diana la monja, mientras yo me carcajeaba de frío, fuera del Regis, que se nos vino a caer.

La bailarina de nuestras parrandas está llorando en la banca de un parque, como le pesa el goteo de las noches sobre esas piernas otrora divinas, mientras tú y yo arrojamos el ancla de un barco hundido, perdido, sacudido, herido de tanto huracán.

Bebimos y vivimos, de musas nos hartamos. Tocamos las costillas de nuestra muerte joven.

Bebimos y vivimos, de amigos nos rodeamos, algunos se perdieron, algunos se encontraron...

Siempre he querido escuchar en la radio, esa canción que robamos del baño de aquel cinito de cintas tres equis donde fundamos la Secretaría de Educación Arrabal de la Vida cuando la calle era destino, doble sentido: era el camino, era nuestra profesión.
